Utube movies have gone to shit this year. Waste of money joining premium anymore!😢
It's been a long time since I shed a tear over a movie.
Great movie and cast.
this movie was a river …
great movie picture.❤
Captivated from the very beginning. ❤ After wading through all the garbage movies on YouTube, this film is truly a refreshing change. ❤
Excellent == !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
too intense for me.
OMG! The cutting scene –Time and the River –makes me think of Ezra Pound and The Wasteland! He rewrote it for Eliot–I saw a facsimile once of his rewrites. Yikes.
Halfway through the movie & he still hasn't taken the damn hat off. So so tedious & boring movie
It took an hour and forty-three minutes for Colin Firth to take off his hat? I thought he wore it to bed. Otherwise, an enjoyable flick.
Why did Colin never take his hat off? This movie is so boring
Enjoyed this movie very much. But, what's with the hat, never takes ot off.
I have pondered this film all night. I hear Perkins saying to Wolfe, “thousands of years ago man sat around a fire, afraid of the dark. Then one man began to tell a story”. He is making Wolfe feel his heritage. Wolfe and Perkins live in dark times indeed. So they huddle together over the flame of art, drunk with the joy of honing their vision of beauty, truth, man-made goodness. And the tribe that makes strange fire in the 20th Century welcomes this escape into man-images.
And the critics saw that it was good.
The uncommon beauty of the final singing of FLOW GENTLY SWEET AFTON is still fragrancing my soul. Whoever made this choice, whoever paired this ethereal choir with Perkins entering his home …. Nuf said
Such a perfect film.
The writing is totally soundless.
These are real people saying only what comes into their heads in real time.
And that, of course means that there are no actors here. This is a real story, in real episodes with very alive people moving in and out of being in real circumstances.
Wonderful how a camera is there for every key moment. Wonderful how every moment was directed only by what these people needed to do, to be, to say.
Edit this. Leave just the beginning
Such a perfect film.
This held me, and I'm hard to hold! Max in his office with the wife and the gun…….so well written, so well acted. Deep!!
I’m loving this. I’m 88. Tried to write my first book at ten. Been writing all my life – every genre. Sold a poem. Won a prize in a national magazine contest. Worked on one book with a UCLA editor. “You’re a very good writer,” she said. One publisher kept one of my books for nine months. “We don’t know what category, what audience this is for”.
I was young, about thirty.
I told them to send it back.
This movie feeds me where a great hunger still exists.
I write every day. I hone YouTube comments just for the pleasure of creating little bitty flowers, seed pearls, my own miniature flutterbys.
Thanks for the vicarious joy.
❤❤❤❤
I wish I could remember who said, apropos of 10:40, "you can't eat poetry, but men die every day for lack of what is found there." Auden?
some great lines in here ha ha. "If you like this book, you'll love it with the 66,000 words we restored." That's not in the film, that's me. Yes!
Lol 😂

Most writers do not become famous or recognized for their works until well after their demise.
"My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night.
But oh, my friends
And ah, my foes
It gives a lovely light."
It has always bothered me that artists like Wolfe, Whitman, and Kerouac were ever perceived as grabbing life by the tail and were really living when all they were doing was drinking and sleeping around. That’s not a difficult thing to do.
The information given about this movie is full of junk information. People in comments seem to like it, I'll try it.
ONE OF THE MOST BORING MOVIES IVE EVER TRIED TO WATCH I DID TRY 45 MINS & TURNED OFF KINDA HARD TO WATCH ANY MOVIES NOWADAYS KNOWING THE EVIL IN MOST THESE ACTORS
Couple of drama queens those two guys. Hang with your family more.
Great movie. Thank you.
Wow, incredible
Goes to show how you can have a good screenwriter and excellent talent but if the script is poorly written, no matter how ornate, it's still lame…
If only the genius actually met and studied the infinite love and intellect and breadth of power of his creator. The Lord will always remain on His throne … because no one else has been made to replace Him … to the ongoing dismay of those who continually seek to do so.
BORING GENIUS. WONDER BOYS WAS A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN THIS. WATCH WONDER BOYS, ACTORS MICHAEL DOUGLAS , TOBEY MAGUIRE, ROBERT DOWNEY JR., KATIE HOLMES TO NAME A FEW. PLUS, BOB DYLAN'S SONG FOR WONDER BOYS, MADE HIM AN OSCAR. GO WATCH WONDER BOYS, THE FIRST TIME WASN'T ENOUGH. THE THIRD TIME SO MUCH MORE WAS REVEALED. MY FAVORITE MOVIE WONDER BOYS KNOCKED "JAWS" TO 2ND PLACE. HAPPY ENDING TOO.
Wow…I'm speechless. Thank you.
I am grateful for having seen this movie.
Interesting but somewhat predictable movie.
I guess when you consider the time period in history that this took place, it does make some sense.
A no name writer finally gets a break, a step up. It doesn't take long before the only person he can see is himself.
Success went to his head and he stepped on everyone on the way up.
The letter was written in a moment of weakness, but it was also only to Max.
Makes you wonder in those last few weeks, if it ever dawned on him the damage he had caused to others.
Side note…. Max the editor, was believed to have had a hearing problem, which is why he wore a hat constantly.
It helped to reflect sound to improve his hearing.
Life bring to us experiences of a lifetime in the form of extraordinary persons that affect us deeply and then move on. Leaving memories and remnants of memories in dusty places. Hauntingly stark then fade to mist over bridges within the mind of those who were there too.
I liked everything about this movie.Nice to see am ensemble where the actors aren't personalities filling out a role but workers doing a job with some craft
Serious delusions of ….
Steady integer like rocks
A kid needing directions. Not knowing his true talent as geniuses are oft unaware.
Wow!
